Duties include management of all outside plant fiber optic cable projects. This includes expansion rings, laterals to LSO’s, fiber relocations and fiber builds to all end-user buildings. Management of two contractors, one for outside plant construction, both buried and aerial, and one inside building conduit installation and fiber pulling. I reacted to account executives requests to disperse fiber to potential and existing customers in a timely manner for their best possible telecommunications service. In addition, I assisted Operations in determining the costs of particular fiber builds and feasibility of that compared to potential incoming customer revenue. I coordinate with local franchise utilities, city governments and permit providers as well as being responsible for all right-of-way issues and concerns.

Manage the design for numerous fiber optic cable routes for various major telecommunications companies. Project manager duties include route feasibility studies, route field design, preliminary design drive-throughs, meetings with permit agencies to determine their requirements for conduit materials and depths, construction methods and drawing production for submittal drawings. Close client contact for verification of compliance with statement of work. Other responsibilities included existing utility research, right-of-way investigation, obtaining existing GIS information, verification of existing land features, pole make-ready for aerial fiber designs, construction staking, construction inspection and as-builting. I also completed Bid, Permit, Construction and As-built drawing production utilizing MicroStation and AutoCad with delivery of required drawing sets and digital files to client and permitting agencies.

Field work included an assignment to the mechanical equipment and piping upgrade design of waste treatment plant at AT&T Lee's Summit site. Throughout the project using AT&T's Microstation capabilities for the design and finalization of demolition and construction drawings with successful transfer of all files to AT&T. I have done fiber mechanical and fusion splicing in a Sprint lab environment. This was completed in cable restoration training sessions with 3^rd party vendor.  Although I was involved in the design and construction of fiber routes, I was not directly responsible for locating existing cables, although I have worked closely with locators and am familiar with OTDR’s and radiodetection locating equipment.

 

Qualified to work on both Burlington Northern Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad properties and Right-of-Ways after successfully completing required safety training.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND QUALITY EXPERIENCE

 

With Sprint, my department, NSPE Drafting and Database Engineering remained number one in customer satisfaction based on results from Facility Engineering & Management (FEM) Customer Satisfaction Survey for 6 years in a row. I am actively involved in the FEM Quality experience by writing sections of the department application for the past Chairman’s Quality Award (CQA) based on the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Criteria. I am also an experienced Malcolm Baldrige Quality examiner for analysis of other CQA applicants. I was directly involved with the department’s Missouri Quality Award application, the Missouri Quality Award win in 2006, attended the award ceremony and participated in the Kansas Quality Award application in 2004.
